The city counts invert the usual hierarchy. Inglewood leads with 42 congregations, ahead of Orange (39), Sacramento (34), San Jose (32), and Victorville (31), with Los Angeles itself further down the list. Independent congregations concentrate where rents allow conversion of retail and industrial space, which puts the centers of gravity in working suburbs rather than downtown cores.
