57 Colorado churches stand on the National Register, mining-camp chapels and city sanctuaries together. The complete list, mapped and dated.
57 Colorado churches stand on the National Register of Historic Places among the 4,169 congregations in the state's directory, giving Colorado the highest register-to-directory ratio in this series: roughly one listed church per 73 congregations. When did Colorado churches enter the National Register?
Colorado's curve has two peaks: 15 listings in the 1970s, when the state documented its mining-camp landmarks, and an unusual second surge of 17 in the 2000s, the largest single-decade count in this series's western states, when Colorado's State Register program fed a wave of county-survey nominations upward. The 2020s have added 4 so far.

How this list was assembled
The list joins the Churches List directory (4,169 Colorado congregations as of June 11, 2026) against the National Park Service's National Register of Historic Places database by building location and name. 57 matches hold as of the snapshot date; the earliest Colorado church listing dates to 1970. A register listing covers the building, not the congregation, and some listed buildings house congregations younger than the walls. Corrections are applied through the corrections page.
