Parish Blog: http://juandiego-parishvoices.blogspot.com/ Parish Vision: As a church and parish, we have gathered together out of a shared belief that love is the fulfillment of the law (Romans 13:10). We seek to love one another—and all our fellow human beings—courageously, equally, and hopefully. Through actions and community grounded in love, we seek to do our part in allowing the Kingdom of God to unfold more fully on the earth. We choose to live out this faith and worship in the catholic sacramental tradition. You are uniquely created, so come as you are, and join a bunch of unique souls deepening their relationship with God. If our message and spirit appeals to you, we invite you. Your past is of no concern to us—we are a church without doors, free of guilt, and full of diversity and dignity. Although we are not perfect, we can promise good company together on our shared journey through this world. The Parish of St. Juan Diego will embody and proclaim Christian salvation and liberation, Christian inclusivity and community, and Christian social action and justice. St. Juan Diego will strive to embody the presence of the Divine in the world as revealed through Jesus Christ and will courageously challenge the conscience of the universal Christian Church to celebrate the inherent dignity of every person. There will be no obstacles to enter into the sacramental life of our fellowship. All will be welcomed. As Mahatma Gandhi said, the means are the ends. In building the parish of St. Juan Diego together, our means and ends are the same. Our mission, vision, and way of getting there can be summarized in Jesus’ command: Love one another as I have loved you. This is to say that we will love one another unconditionally. Nothing anyone does or is justifies a refusal to love. No situation or circumstance ever justifies a suspension of the command to love unconditionally. The right course of action—however difficult or impossible seeming—will always be the path of greatest love. In all these words of mission, vision, and means, we keep in mind two things: 1. We—like Peter—are human and will stumble repeatedly in living out our bold promise to love as Christ loved. Holy men and women across faith traditions inspire us and remind us that we are all constantly growing. Human failure demands not that we inflict guilt upon ourselves, but that we learn. 2. Our actions matter far more than any number of words. As Francis of Assisi reminded those who admired him: Preach the Gospel always; if necessary, use words.
