First Lutheran has been a part of Houston since 1851. Back then, we served as the gathering place for German Lutherans who found their way to this great city. We continue to serve as a gathering place for followers of Jesus who desire to worship, learn, and serve together. First Lutheran is part of the North American Lutheran Church. To fulfill our mission, we focus on five ministries: Sunday worship and teaching; our preschool, First Friends; the First Word Debate Series; college student outreach; and Music at First.
