United Baptist Abc Church
A Note From Our Pastor We are called into faith as a gift from God. This gift then is given away to the world as an act of joy. Jesus Christ, the one whom we follow, has promised to be with us always! Therefore we proclaim to the world the reign of God in both word and deed. We trust God with our lives. Our loyalty to Jesus and His cause is the essence of our calling. We will remain joyfully rooted in Christ always and believe in Him with all our heart, mind, and strength. Our Church Community- Fellowship & Outreach Art Van Program This is an outreach for people of all ages to experience the good feelings of doing art and expressing themselves in a positive manner. Fellowship of the Church The congregation enjoys working to help make the church a fun loving place to worship by serving on boards and also enjoying fellowship with others by having picnics, camping, game nights, movie nights and luncheons. American Baptist Women’s Ministries ABWM, American Baptist Women’s Ministries, is made up of our church women who meet at regular intervals to help to make our world a little warmer and kinder. We plan for mission activities, such as bandages for third world countries, and provide money and items for various charities in our country and around the world. O ur main goal is to GIVE of our hearts and minds and help in any way that we can for others. We join together to enjoy the company of our fellow Christian women and become stronger in our love for one another and for our Lord, always striving to improve our Christian walk with God! Church Board Information The Deaconate Board This Board consists of 4 male and 4 female members of the church. This is a 4 year commitment to serve the congregation. The board has a number of issues that it is responsible for such as approving the use of the church for other activities such as Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and AA meetings which are held in the Church’s fellowship hall. The board, through Pastor Ron and the Salvation Army, give a food gift card for a struggling family each Thanksgiving and Christmas. The board also does outreach to the community as needed. The Board of Christian Education This Board oversees the education ministries of the church. The members of this board supervise, encourage, advise, and work with the Sunday school program. They also plan special events such as Christmas, Easter, Children’s Day and Rally Day programs. The board also organizes a church event each year to provide shoe boxes full of gifts for Franklin Graham’s Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child. This year, our church filled 57 boxes. Each Christmas season, during the morning worship service, the children and some adults perform a Christmas play . This is followed by a birthday party for Jesus. The board organizes a game night for the church families where a meal is shared, board games are enjoyed, and everything is topped off with ice cream sundaes. Each summer there is a Vacation Bible School offered for the children of the church as well as the children of the community. The Board of Christian Education members are involved in helping the Vacation Bible School coordinator to make this fun for everyone. The board members also help to arrange a camping trip. Each summer, church members are invited to participate in a week-end camping trip with devotions and fellowship around the picnic tables and campfire in a forest by a lake.. This is a special time for all who attend. Dominican Republic Mission The United Baptist Church (UBC) of Topsham, Maine has been supporting and actively involved in the Good Samaritan Mission in LaRomana, Dominican Republic since it first sent nine members of the congregation in 1997. Since then over twenty individuals from UBC have experienced the mission trip, many of them have experienced multiple trips and some have exceeded their tenth trip. This mission that UBC supports was formally organized in 2001 as The Good Samaritan Mission Council, Inc. It is a 501(c)(3) and is a Christian faith based ecumenical organization focused on supporting the programs and activities of the Haitian Mission Baptist Church and the Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation in the city of LaRomana in the Dominican Republic. The volunteers from UBC are part of a much larger group of over 2000 volunteers annually from the United States. The work that each of these groups perform consists of construction, medical outreach and education. Vacation Bible School Vacation Bible School is held each summer during the last week in June for kids 5-10 years old. It is held at the church from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. for 5 consecutive days. The VBS program is free to all participants!! Thanks to our generous sponsors and all our dedicated volunteers. Each year a fun theme is chosen and becomes the backdrop for our adventures. Kids rotate through 6 stations each day. These stations include active singing, amazing Bible adventures, fun crafts, yummy snacks, Chadder’s theater, and silly games. Kids learn Bible verses, explore Bible stories, and experience the love of Jesus. Each year, VBS chooses an “Operation kid to kid†mission project as a way to reach out to other kids somewhere in our world. Kids are asked to bring an offering each day which will go directly to that project. Pre-registration is not necessary! All are welcome regardless of denomination! So bring lots of kids and join us for an amazing adventure with God as our guide!
