Corrections Policy

Corrections Policy

The Church Directory is committed to providing accurate and reliable information about churches across various denominations. We understand that details regarding faith communities, services, and contact information are important to our users.

Maintaining precision for listings like Covenant Tabernacle World Outreach Center or Lindenwald Baptist Church is central to our mission. We strive to ensure all published content reflects the most current and correct details available.

Types of Corrections

We categorize errors based on their impact and nature. Different types of corrections apply depending on the severity of the misinformation.

Minor Fixes

Minor fixes include typographical errors, grammatical mistakes, or small factual inaccuracies. Examples are incorrect capitalization, punctuation errors, or a single digit error in a phone number. These do not alter the core understanding of a church listing or article.

Significant Corrections

Significant corrections address errors that materially misrepresent information about a church or topic. This includes incorrect addresses, service times, pastor names, or denominational affiliations. These corrections can change a user’s decision-making about visiting a church.

Retractions

A retraction occurs when an entire piece of content is found to be fundamentally false, misleading, or published in error. This action removes the content entirely from The Church Directory. Retractions are rare and reserved for severe cases where no correction can rectify the inaccuracies.

How Corrections Are Noted

The Church Directory employs clear methods to indicate corrections made to our content. Our goal is to maintain transparency regarding updates.

Minor Fixes

Minor typographical or grammatical errors are typically corrected without an explicit editor’s note. These changes do not affect the substantive meaning of the content, such as a church’s address or its denomination.

Significant Corrections

For significant factual errors, we append a correction notice to the updated article or listing. This notice states “Correction:” followed by the date of the correction and a brief explanation of what was changed. This allows readers to see when and how critical information was updated, for example, for a listing like Hope Community Church.

Retractions

If an article is retracted, we remove the content from the website. In some cases, a notice may replace the content explaining that it has been retracted. This occurs only when the information is profoundly inaccurate or baseless.

How to Report an Error

We rely on our community to help us maintain the highest standards of accuracy. If you find an error in any church listing or article on The Church Directory, please report it to us.

Send an email to editorial@churcheslist.com. Include the URL of the page containing the error and a clear description of the inaccuracy. Please provide the correct information where possible.

Timeline for Reviewing Reported Errors

Upon receiving an error report, our editorial team will review it promptly. We aim to investigate and verify all reported inaccuracies within 2 business days.

Once verified, we prioritize making necessary corrections. The time to implement a correction can vary depending on the complexity of the change. We strive to update all significant errors within 5 business days of verification.

Transparency and Correction History

The Church Directory maintains a commitment to transparency regarding all content updates. Our correction notes directly within articles serve as a public record of changes. This includes updates to information for churches like Iglesia De Dios Santos Y Fieles or Pursuit Christian Fellowship.

We do not maintain a separate public log of every minor correction. However, all significant corrections are clearly marked on the relevant pages, ensuring readers are informed about modified details.
